Mesmer Interrupts
Why is the failure rate so high with these (i.e. Cry of Frustration, Power Leak, Power Spike, etc)? I figure I must be doing something wrong. I was rollin through the Thirsty River mission with henchies last night, and knowing about Mr. Nasty Monk boss at the end, I equipped these interrupts to disrupt his healing and some AoE spells (to kill the priest while I was interrupting the monk). To make a depressing story short, I only got Cry of Frustration to work once on him and the other two never worked. I'm having the same lack of success on Sand Giants, but no problems on things like Siege Worms. Are these skills dependent on the type of enemy (e.g. some enemies are more resistant to being interrupted)?

The problem might be that the spells he casts have very short casting time, so your interrupt comes too late - at least that's why I think my interrupts usually miss. I don't quite remember but I think I shut them down with backfire & chaos storm instead.

Power leak and Power spike require skill and attention thats why most peaople fail on this. It's like concussion shot for rangers its effective if u time it right and get them while there casting a spell, but it costs 25 energy and if u miss ur screwed (plus and arrow has to travel in the air unlike a spell is cast instantly) so i think the concussion shot is very hard to accumilate.

It's not that they require more skill. Trying to utilize interrupts against a monk (as a mesmer, ranger is a whole different story) is an exercise in futility, they cast too fast, and interrupting does little good against all the 5 energy rapid cooldown spells anyways.
You need to conundrum and/or migraine a monk to effectively interrupt them. Really though, I recommend you don't make an interrupt mesmer, rangers just do it better. Interrupts on a mesmer should just supplement another goal, like the energy draining interrupt on an energy denial mesmer, or power spike on a damage mesmer. |
